Saturday, June 14th, is Flag Day — a U.S. holiday that commemorates the 1977 resolution of the Second Continental Congress to adopt our country’s flag.
This Flag Day, however, President Trump is planning a military parade in Washington, D.C. … at taxpayers’ expense. The parade, which also happen to be on Trump’s 79th birthday, is expected to cost between $25 - $45 million dollars!
In response to the increasingly alarming authoritarian excesses within the Trump administration, people across the U.S. — including in Yankton — are taking action. NO KINGS is a non-partisan national day of action and mass mobilization to stand up to the Trump administration — saying no to abuses of power, corruption, and cruelty.
Everyone is invited to join the NO KINGS protest this Saturday, June 14, at Memorial Park in Yankton. The protest will begin promptly at 10:30 am. The featured speaker will be Rich Loftus, a historian and author.
Please note:
Protesters will gather around the U.S. Veterans Memorial located in the center of Memorial Park.
No parking in the swimming pool parking lot…unless you have handicapped parking permissions. There is plenty of parking on Mulberry or 19th Street.
The city is aware of this protest.
Feel free to bring signs and flags … including extra signs to share with others. Need some inspiration? Check out this NO KINGS brand folder site. Or consider messages, like:
